3rd Hour Macbeth Final Assessment

  1. Trust is a hard concept to grasp. Macbeth's trust in the witches ended badly becasue he put too much faith in what they said and made it come true.

  2. I think that the characters that have a lot of trust in others seem to get stabbed in the back. I agree with David in the sense that Duncan has a lot of trust in Macbeth and thinks he is a very good person then Macbeth murders Duncan.

  3. Being trustworthy isn't very good in Macbeth. In most cases, the trust between two people was broken. Macbeth trusted Lady Macbeth but in the end it didn't work out very well.

  4. when the characters in the play try to trust eachother, they always end up getting backstabbed. therefore there was definatly a lack of trust.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ethan Pfeiffer - David thinks that trust is not a good thing because Macbeth trusted Lady Macbeth, but she wanted things for her own gain. I think that trust is good because then people can have someone to turn to, like for example, Malcom didn't trust Macduff when he told him to go to Scotland, but when he did, he openly told him he prepared an army, and he and Macduff went and overthrew Macbeth!

  6. i fell trust in macbeth is bad since all the charecterthat trusted macbeth in the book died

  7. Having a trustworthy mentality is good thing except when it is taken advantage of. macbeth and Lady Macbeth had to trust eachother in order for their plan to happen. Macbeth trusted Lady Macbeth and she kind of used it to her advantage.

    ReplyDelete
  8. At the beginning of Macbeth, Macbeth trusts Lady Macbeth a lot. She was able to manipulate him to do things that are considered morally wrong in society, like murder. Eventually, I think this trust wanes or gets less, because Macbeth starts to make plans on his own. I would say this is because of the guilt that Macbeth carries after the murder. Macbeth lost some trust in his wife because her plan didn't work out the best for him.

    ReplyDelete
  9. You cannot trust anyone. You never know when someone will turn on you and mess up your whole life. Macbeth trusted Lady Macbeth, and she made him kill the king. Banquo trusted Macbeth, and Macbeth killed him too. Everyone has some trust of Macbeth, but this trust disintegrates as the play goes on and the evidence against Macbeth grows.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I agree with what Sandra was saying, about how Macbeth trusts Lady Macbeth, and in the end Lady Macbeth kind of broke that trust. I also agree with Derek saying that Macbeth trusted the witches and trusting that the prophecy was true.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I dont think that trust is a very valuable thing in this play. There were many examples where the trust was betrayed. Macbeth killing Duncan was a good example.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I agree with Ben, Macbeth uses Duncan's trust to lure him to his house in order to kill him. I agree with Taylor that people who are less trustwothy they seem to end up better off. Sarah M

    ReplyDelete
  13. But there is a lack of trust in Macbeth vs Lady Macbeth, and there is a bountiful supply of trust between Macduff and Maclom.

    ReplyDelete
  14. i doubt that anyone in this time was really trustworthy because of the constant need for power and revenge, they would disregard others feelings and purpose for their own gain

    ReplyDelete
  15. Having a trustworthy state of mind can present many pros and cons. It's good to trust people to have someone to back you up or somewhere to go. Like Malcolm and Donalbain trusted each other to do well if one of them took the throne, which is why they could go their seperate ways. It is also not a good thing as exhibited by Macbeth. He trusted the witches and their prophecy to come true, but they created chaos and hurt him. None of the other characters such as Macduff or Banquo trusted Macbetha and this was good because Macbeth was someone to watch out for. Trust plays a huge role in this play. Always watching out for yourself and not trusting others to do this for you seems to be the best way to go. Most characters exhibited this and they were the ones who ended up staying alive.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Trust

Trust is very important, because they cannot make plans or anything like that without trust. and most of the people who ended up trusting people, it ended up backfiring on them. Even lady macbeth might not have been trust worthy to macbeth, i think if lady macbeth would not have killed herself, she would have ended up blaming everything else in the book, there is definitely a lack of trust in the book. if you want power and royalty you cannot do it alone, you have to trust people, and since nobody is trust worthy you cannot gain royalty, it is just a scramble/ free-for-all everybody creating havoc.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Having a trustworthy mentalility was a bad thing to have in Macbeth. Truest is easily twisted into something else and someone will most likely end up being "stabed in the back." In the play, the people that trusted others seemed to end up dead, while those that trusted no one seemed to stay alive and/or gained power.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I agree Dolanbain could trust Malcom because they are siblings

    ReplyDelete
  19. I agree with Suzy, Sandra, and Derek about the trust issue. Kelly P.

    ReplyDelete
  20. No can really trust Macbeth. Macduff figured out that Macbeth was a liar and killed many people to becoming king. In the book the characters don't trust each other and when they do it just turns out bad. The king trusted Macbeth but Macbeth killed the king and in the end after that every turned for the worse. Macbeth is just too corrupt and power hungry to trust. Macbeth will betray any ones trust because he is so power hungry and will do whatever to save the king.

    ReplyDelete
  21. perhaps trust is a good thing it worked out foe banquo since malcome thrusts him he potentially coul get the throne

    ReplyDelete
  22. Trust is huge. There was definitely a lack of trust in Macbeth. Banquo starts to lose trust in Macbeth. Banquo starts to become suspicious of Macbeth murdering Duncan.
Macbeth loses his friends' trust, in return for power.

  23. Having a trust worthy mentality can be both good and bad. Having trust in somebody is a huge risk. Macbeth trusted Lady Mcbeth throughout the play. In the end, it didn't turn out to be god trusting her. She ended up leaving him when he trusted her to stay, he trusted her when she said what the plans were. Macbeth having trust in Lady Macbeth overall isn't a good thing, it all back fired. Banquo trusted Macbeth, then he stopped, which was wise because in the end, him not trusting turned out for the best. Everyones trust is tested now and will be tested throughout the rest of their life now because of what has happened to them in the play.

  24. Jason B
I think it really depends on the person, Macbeth really trusted the witches and Lady Macbeth and then he was killing everyone to get to be king. He actually thought the prophecy would come true. His trust ended up bacfiring because he just had to keep killing because every one kept on finding out. Banquo trusted Macbth and that ended up getting him killed.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think that having a trustworthy mentality is a bad thing in this situation because the turst ends up being broken. An example is how Macbeth trusts Lady Macbeth, but she led him to kill King Duncan which resulted in tradgedy and thier downfall.
    Alexa T

  26. I disagree with Ethan P. He stated that trust allowed Malcolm and Macduff to defeat Macbeth, but it is because of trust that this war even occurs

    ReplyDelete
  27. The worm was fleance. He was the worm when Macbeth killed Banquo because he got away

    ReplyDelete
  28. Does the horse thing represent Macbeth and Macduff and all the royalty fighting eachother?
    Zach C

    ReplyDelete
  29. the horses eating eachother represented the conflicts between different countries and them going at eachother to try and have total power and control. the worms represent banquo by him rotting kin the ground.

    ReplyDelete
  30. the two horses could symbolize the conflict will hurt both sides and their is nothing to gain so they should solve the conflict peacefully

    ReplyDelete
  31. I disagree with Christina S. She said that Malcolm could trust Donalbain because they are brothers, but brothers killed each other all the time to gain the throne

    ReplyDelete
  32. I agree with Max, they are all living together and all are the same kind.
    Zach C

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think that these symbols are relevant to what is going on in the play. Like Kyle said, the two horses eating each other represent the plot. I think it represents Macbeth killing Duncan and other members of the household. Everyone started betraying each other as well.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I agree with Kyle when he said that the horses represent the population, and they are turning against eachother. That puts it in a way that it is immoral for horses to eat eachother, and it is also immoral for people to fight and kill eachother. -.- Also, most symbols were in nature, so Shakespeare was trying to tell people that it was a crime against nature to betray eachother and "eat" eachother. =D

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think the symbols show how the world is effected. If someone like Macbethdoes something like this he kind of screws up the balance of the world

    ReplyDelete
  36. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think that the two horses eating each other was representing Macduff trying to kill Macbeth. Things are happening, that aren't really supposed to be happening. Horses do not eat horses, and Macduff should not try to kill Macbeth. The raven could have represented death. All of the symbols being from nature, could show that not only he is affected by his actions. It affected a lot of people in their country. Killing Duncan to get the throne influenced many more peoplee than just him.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The horses eating each other is when ross is talking to the old man and the horses symbolize that what macbeth did wasn't supposed to happen and it went against nature. When the witches made the prophecy they meant it would be achieved over time. But Macbeth went against the prophecy. How corrupt Macbeth was, was bad for the entire country. If Macbeth hadn't done anything nature would have taken over and he would be a good king and the people would have liked him.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The horses eating eachother may be a symbol for going against the system. Horses are definitely not supposed to eat eachother, and the fact that one did may imply that someone in the play is going against the system for the duration of the play.
The horses may also be a sense of foreshadowing. The foreshadowing of this may be the fact that Macbeth is going to murder Banquo

    ReplyDelete
  40. The symbols are taken from nature, which i think is a play on human nature. When humans are taken over by evil (Like Macbeth), the outcome is not the best. Like the horses eating eachother, Macbeth "eats" his enemies by killing them.
    Sarah M

    ReplyDelete
  41. Symbolism is huge in this play as well. The horses eating each other is natures way of showing how everything is going wrong in the world and it is complete chaos. The symbols all coming from nature show just how broad the effects of Macbeth's actions are. This can be related to the real world as well; when something goes wrong for you many more people then you realize are effected.

    ReplyDelete
  42. the nature and elements of the world are all co- dedpendant, withought eachotheer they would not suruve, i think this is also true for the characters in macbeth

    ReplyDelete
  43. I agree with hat kyle is saying. If he didn't interfere that might not of happen

    ReplyDelete
  44. I agree with kyle, the horses eating horses are symbolic of the fact that mankind seems to be turning on one antoher. Macbeth is murdering his own kind, royalty that seemed to be his friends at one point in time. The reason that most of the symbols have to deal with nature is because the fact that what is going on in the kingdom has do with more than just the people inhabiting the area. Nature changes with the human world.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I agree with Ian, because Macbeth is almost Duncan's equal, so by killing him, Macbeth is eating Duncan's power.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The two horses eating eachothr represented two different people like Macbeth and Duncan going at eachother to gain power and respect

    ReplyDelete
  47. When the soldiers throw off their camoflauge (tree branches) this symbolizes the final showing of Macbeth's guilt. His innocence is thrown off and shown to the world.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I agree with the satements regarding the horse because they brought up many topics such as things that weren't supposed to happen are happinging like how macbeth is killing other humans and this could symbolize the horses
    Nick C

  49. Images-

I think the two horses stood for people against people. People shouldn't kill other people as horses should not go against one another. I think most images stood for some kind of symbol in "Macbeth". Also, the mirror the king held when the eight kings and Banquo showed up stood for the reflection of MAcbeth and who he was then. I also think that the reson a lot of symbols had to deal with nature was because things in nature you cannot really control.
    SANDRA K.

    ReplyDelete
  50. This imagery sets the tone and mood for the scenes. The nature is very odd through out the book. The nature is showing that just one person can effect everything around them. The weather is also an odd occurence that was displayed throughout the book, such as the thunder when the witches appear.

    ReplyDelete
  51. The drive for power is the same thing with jack. Jack and Macbeth both have a big drive for power and they both kill for it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think that the two horses eating each other represents internal conflict. It can represent the internal conflict within Macbeth because of the guilt he felt after killing the king, or it can represent the conflict within the characters as they also kill each other, just like the horses.
    -Derek S

    ReplyDelete
  53. "Macbeth" relates to "Lord of The Flies", because once Jack and Macbeth gain power, they don't want to lose it. Macbeth kills people to keep it, and Jack resorts to various(savage) actions to keep his power.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Macbeth is somewhat like Jack, power hungry. after a while in being in power they start going mad. With too much power, they start wanting more and more and end up in a state of madness

    ReplyDelete
  55. Macbeth felt guilty about what he did but Jack really didn't. Macbeth was pressured to make the kill happen and Jack was not. It was completely up to him

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ambition and insanity can be closely related because sometimes ambition causes you to do things you wouldn't normally do. This happens in Macbeth, where Macbeth's want for power drives him to murder. This also happens in Lord of the Flies when Jack also kills for power. Because humans have a conscience, both Macbeth and Jack's deeds eventually caught up to them. This drove them to insanity, because they couldn't cope with, or handle what they did.

    -Lauren L

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jack and Macbeth both unjustly want power, and are willing to do anything to get it. This then leads to both of them losing their minds, even though they both hide it pretty well. Then, both Ralph and Duncan kind of die... (Duncan really dies,) at least their reputations do.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Macbeth has a lot of motivation and vaulting ambition to kill Duncan and gain the kingship. he is also going crazy, much like Jack in Lord of the Flies. Jack was trying to gain power as well, starting his on tribe to gain leadership.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I agree with Kelly beacuse in both books, the inate sense of evil in human nature comes out. Macbeth and Jack/Rodger seem to show how everyone can start out normal, but end up giving to their nature.

    ReplyDelete
  60. kyle h: When an opportunity surfaces to make one's self more powerful or more successful, its human nature to take advantage of that opportunity. This was true to the stories of both Macbeth, and Lord of the Flies. The power hungry nature of man dominates moral thinking and results in total chaos and insanity. Greed is murderous and we see this in both situations.

    ReplyDelete
  61. The murder does drive people insane in both books like Katie said. In Lord of the Flies the murder and hunting affects everyone involved and drives Jack especially crazy. In Macbeth, it affects Macbeth and Lady Macbeth the worst.
    Zach C

    ReplyDelete
  62. in lord of lkthe flies, the hilderen only cred about being manly and being in charge and in macbeth they arer obviously older in aged, but in a way they are acting even more infantile in the way they handle things. if something went wrong, theyd kill someone, if someone found out about something, theyd kill them. while in lord of the flies they did kill people because of different thoughts, but the chatracters werent so bloodthirsty.

    ReplyDelete
  63. jack and macbeth are both power hungry, and are doing crazy things to get power, which end up making things worst, and once they give up their power they feel guilty and sad of what they did. this shows that a normal person and a power hungry person are two totally different people, even if they are the same person.
    Luc W

    ReplyDelete
  64. in both books Macbeth is power hungry and is going crazy because he feels guilty about killing the king. Jack is going going crazy too because he is desperate for the power hungry. Both of the leaders are power hungry. Both of the leaders will do whatever it takes to get and keep the power. Both of the people started out well but their plots went insane. They were driven to have the power.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I am confused on what Taylor meant when she said they lost there reputation? Can someone please help explain that to me?

    -Lauren L

    ReplyDelete
  66. I think that the drive for power is similar in Macbeth and in Lord of the Flies because Macbeth would do anything for power, including becoming barbaric and even sometimes resulting in murder. Jack was the same way in his barbaric sense and also would do anything to get the power. Also, Jack and Macbeth over time started to loose their minds and started becoming crazy.
    Max H

    ReplyDelete
  67. The drive for power is very similar in both books because on bith the island and in Scotland they are killing which is causing them to go crazy. Also a while though the book both of their need for power overwhelms them and the start killing each other for that power.
    Nick C.

    ReplyDelete
  68. kyle H: i also agree with the inner circle in the sense that the characters who went insane were mentally stable before the guilt and greed came over them and changed them for the worse.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I think what Christina said wasn't entirely true. i think Jack was feeling remorse when he invited Ralph to join his tribe, becuase Ralph had the original power.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Clearly insanity in "Lord of The Flies" and "Macbeth" is a huge thing and they are similar in the drive for power and being willing to do anything to get it. Jack is the leader and pressures all the other boys to go against Ralph and Piggy. They fear his authority and know that he can hurt them. Lady Macbeth is the authority figure in the relationship between herself and Macbeth. She pressures him into doing something he knows is not right but she has autority over him. He does it anyway and goes against his conscience just to please her. They both just want the power and get everyone else to go along with them.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Power is shown in both Macbeth and Lord of the Flies. Macbeth becomes extremely power hungry after he hears that he can and will become king by his prophecy. In Lord of the Flies, Jack is power hungry after he didn't bedcome the chief of the group. Lady Macbeth and Roger are similar as well. Lady Mabeth pressures Macbeth into killing people and Roger wants to kill people and is trying to kill people or make other people kill people. This was shown when Roger killed Piggy and propsed ideas of killing. Like Ethan said in the circle, Macbeth and Jack both start out as civilized people then turn into power hungry monsters

    ReplyDelete
  72. If Adam is saying that Macbeth is like Jack, then who is Ralph like? Macduff?
    Zach C

    ReplyDelete
  73. Lord of the Flie shows the strive from power, as well as in Macbeth. Everyone wants to have some kind of power and I think that Jack and MAcbeth were like eachother this way. They were willing to do anything just to get power. jack doesnt have somebody pressuring him to get power though while Macbeth has Lady Macbeth going down his throat about being king. In both senerios there was one person who wanted power and ended up going mad. I think that Ralph was like King Duncan and Jack was like Macbeth. Jack wanted to kill Ralph and Macbeth wanted to kill the king.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I disagree with part of Taylor H's comment. Jack and Macbeth did both lose their minds, but they did not both hide it very well. I think that Jack did a pretty good job of hiding his madness, but most people could tell that Macbeth was losing his mind.

    ReplyDelete
  75. last comment by Luc. W. was SANDRA K

    ReplyDelete
  76. In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is the source of evil, and since Macbeth is kind of innocent, someone needed to push him, and the closest person to him was his wife. Lady Macbeth had extreme power over Macbeth, and this is the driving force behind the insanity.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Ethan P: Maybe Shakespeare was ahead of the time and thought that women could play an important part in society. Think of the times: Elizabeth I was king, maybe Shakespeare just did this because he viewed women differently and in a more equal-to-man way.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I agree with Christina when she said that Shakespeare was challenging the system by having the women more powerful. Most authors in that time didn't have women be super powerful and men not so powerful.
    Kelly P

    ReplyDelete
  79. perhaps shakespear portraid them as such to represent that women may have not had as much power but to represent the great influnce they have on socity
    cole t.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Women in Macbeth are portrayed with more power than they would actually have. This may because women do have certain power over men. A lot of times, women can persuade their husbands to do things they wouldn't normally do, like in Macbeth. This is because men usually trust their wives a lot. Because they trust and love their wives so much, they are willing to do things to make their wives happy.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Kyle H: i agree with Sarah, i believe that is true. That Shakespeare was kind of testing society, testing them to see how they would react. And who knows, he could have been pro-women's rights and wanted show women that they can be in control, and surface how the man is not always in charge.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I think that one reason Shakespeare portrayed the characters with more power than they would have had in real life could be just for the purpose of the story. If they werent as powerful then the play might not haveb een as exciting. Also it could have been that Macbeth thought that women had more power than men, so he tried to build that up and exagerate Lady Macbeth's power.
    -Suzy F.

  83. Ethan P:Sorry, typo. Elizabeth I was QUEEN. Sorry there.

  86. back then women were very bossy, and maybe he wanted to change how people thought of women. i dont think macbeth would have killed the king if it was not for lady macbeth, he really did not want to, but lady macbeth did. he felt very guilty. maybe if he found a good time to later on. but he definitely would not have killed duncan anytime soon if it was not for lady macbeth.
    Luc W.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I do not think that Macbeth would have killed Duncan if Lady Macbeth was not pushing him. Macbeth was hesitating, even with Lady Macbeth's manipulation. He seemed to be pretty happy with his current position, because Duncan was a great king. Lady Macbeth was definitely the more dominant figure in the relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Alexa is exactly right, without Lady Maceth Macbeth would've probably not killed Duncan. Macbeth is very strong by himself but couldn't follow through without that little push from Lady Macbeth.
    Zach C

    ReplyDelete
  89. I agree with Sara. Shakespeare wanted to portray what will happen when women get more power. I think that women were not thought of very highly in his time and he maybe agreed and wanted to show that they should not have power. He also might have wanted to show women should have more power to influence their husbands in good ways. Macbeth would not have killed King Duncan if Lady Macbeth wouldn't have pressured him into doing it. I agree with Alexa, he was against it but did it for her because she held more authority in their relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Shakespeare gave the woman of the play more power to make show that woman are needed to help society funcion. I dont not think that Macbeth would have killed Duncan if Lady Macbeth had not pressured him into it. Lady Macbeth had a much greater lust for power than Macbeth and wanted power very greatly. Macbeth would have just let the events fold out and wait until the withches' prophecy came true on its own.

    Adam L

    ReplyDelete
  91. I agree with Sarah when she said that Shakespeare was showing how he and the women were challenging the system. I think Macbeth still would've killed the king if Lady Macbeth hadn't pushed him. Macbeth had the gut feeling that he wanted the power and he was going to get it somehow after he had heard the prophecy. Lady Macbeth has the power though. Macbeth always listened to her and wqouldn't really fight back.

  96. I think that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth both had equal power in there relationship because Macbeth was the man and that automatically gave him power and also he was very power full in there country. In the physical sense of power Macbeth had more, but in mental power Lady Macbeth deffinitly overcame him.

    ReplyDelete
  97. In my opinion, I think that Macbeth would not have killed the king if Lady Macbeth didnt plot to have Macbeth kill the king. This is because in the beginning of the book Macbeth said that he had respect for the king. Then Lady Macbeth changes Macbeth's mind. So, in this case, Lady Macbeth was in charge of thier relationship.

  98. I think that Macbeth might have had more power in that marrige. Even though Lady Macbeth persuaded Macbeth to kill Duncan, Macbeth would have to had made the choice to kill him. It was a big choice to make. Even if Lady Macbeth did not persuade his decision, Macbeth might have killed Duncan anyway.
    ~Suzy F.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I think that Macbeth gave in to Lady Macbeth's pressure because of the "link" between them that was caused by marriage. His loyalty and trust of Lady Macbeth may have pushed him to do what she wanted him to.

  100. I do not think that Macbeth would have killed King Duncan if Lady Macbeth because I dont think he would have even put the idea in his head about killing Duncan if it weren't for her. He wanted power but I think he wanted to earn it, not take peoples life for it. After he killed the king I don't think he could've stopped the killing because he already had killed the most important man of them all.

    SANDRA K.

  101. I agree with Ethan that as the power came into sight for both Jack and Macbeth came into veiw, they tried to play with it to get what they wanted quicker then it shouldve happened.

In Zachs comment I believe that Ralph is more like Duncan because when Ralph starts to see Jack taking power over, he doesnt stop. The same goes for Duncan seeing his death from Macbeth.

I dont think that Macbeth would've killed Duncan if Lady Macbeth had convinced him to kill Duncan becaue Macbeth would've been eaten by his guilt and he would relize it so he wouldn't have the guts to kill Duncan and I think he would've came clean. I think that Lady Macbeth was the true power hungry one out of them.

  102. Ambition is good to a certain degree. Aim as high as you can, but the second you are willing to unfairly gain what you want. It is bad

    ReplyDelete
  103. Ambition is good to an extent. It is good to have motivation but not to the point of killing people. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth took it to far. You have to work hard in life but can't push it that much.

    ReplyDelete
  104. In my opinion, Macbeth would not have murdered Duncan if Lady Macbeth had't manipulated him. After Macbeth had murdered Duncan, he seemed very guilty. Before he murdered Duncan, he seemed to talk about what a great king Duncan was. Also, right before he murdered Duncan, he seemed to be hesitating.

In life, you can definitely have to much ambition, and it may destroy you. If you're too ambitious and you set a goal for yourself, but you don't achieve that goal, the person may become very sad and think very low about themselves.

    Gabby M.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I think that you can definitely have too much ambition that it will destroy them. This is because you want more and more and more. 112. Macbeth was an extremely self-motivated person and he would've liked to be king but he would've tried to take it away without murder and used other methods.

  113. Ethan P: Macbeth would probably go on being a happy Thane, or double thane, in his case. Since he heard he was destined to be king, he went and got the throne by himself. If he hadn't heard that he was to be king, then he would have been happy to where he was.

  114. i think that macbeth wouldnt hav killed king duncan, but he prbobly still would have killed people beceause he didnt really have the courage or guts to handle things differently. in the end i think it all comes down to macbeth being cowardly and infantile.

  115. Macbeth would not have killed everyone because he would be unaware of the profecy. There would not be a story because Macbeth and Banquo would have just gone with the flow. None of the murders would have happened beacause Macbeth would have been content with his 2 titles.

  116. I think yes he would have gotten the throne but he probably would have ruined it for himself or Lady Macbeth would have some how influenced him if she had lived

  117. If Macbeth did not know his prophesy I do not think Macbeth would've killed the King. Also, if you don't know you are supposed to be king you wouldn't be thinking about trying to becoming king therefore you wouldn't have killed the king.

  118. i dont think macbeth have killed anyone, because i think macbeth seemed very modest and would not have set his goals that high, so fast. he would have probably worked his way up, because he was a war hero, and seemed to have great potential as a king. even if he did not become king, he would have been fine with his position,he thought that duncan was a good king and was happy with his current position

  119. Macbeth was satisfied with what he had. When he learned that he could have been king, he became greedy and wanted more. If he had never known that he didn't have a chance at being king, then that greed would have never taken place. It seems like Macbeth was a satisfied guy, and Lady Macbeth was the power-hungry one.

  120. In my opinion, if Macbeth had not murdered Banquo, he wouldn't have stayed and thrived as king. Just after murdering Duncan, Macbeth started going insane and seeing halucinations.
Banquo, probably would have supported Macbeth when he was around, but when Macbeth wasn't around, he might have started going against him and figured out that he murdered the king.

If Macbeth had never known he was going to be king, I highly doubt he would have gone on a "murder spree."

  121. In this case, the trust issue comes in again. I think that Banquo would most likely have supported Macbeth as king, and then slowly become power hungry and possibly tried to overthrough Macbeth as king. If Macbeth did not discover that he would become king, then Macbeth might be more in charge of his relationship with Lady Macbeth.

  123. The story would have been completely different if the witches had not propesized to Macbeth that he would be king. I think that Macbeth would have been content as the Thane of Glamis and Cawdor. If he had not know that he was to be king, then Macbeth would not have been power hungry. I agree with David, that Macbeth probably would not have done anything if he had not heard the prophecy, he would have been happy where he was, already high up in the social status.

  125. Kyle H: Macbeth most likely would have been perfectly content with his royality as being the Thane of Glamis and Cawdor. He was excited to have added more to his name until the witches told him he could have more. I think that if he had not interfered, then he would have continued on his life as a thane. he also believed in King Duncan and supported him; therefore, he probably wouldn't have thought to challenge the system.

  126. I think that it would have turned out different because he wouldn't have had the urge to kill and then it would be a dull story. Macbeth would have just continued living his life and never would have thought to become king.

  128. I do not think that Macbeth's friendship with Banquo would have lasted, and I do not think Banquo would have supported Macbeth if he had not killed Banquo. Banquo was already starting to get suspicious of Macbeth about killing the king. I do not think that Banquo would have liked the way that Macbeth was ruling over the people, and Banquo would have turned against him.

  131. If the witches never told Macbeth about the prophecy that he was going to be king, he would not have given more than a thought to becoming king and go on with his life. He was already in a great position in life as Thane of Cawdor and Glamis, and he wouldn't have gone out of his way to change that.

  133. I don't think the thought ever occured to Macbeth, or ever would, of him being king. I think this because Macbeth thought that Duncan was a good king, and he was happy at his current stage.

  134. If Macbeth hadn't recieved the prophecy from the witches, then he wouldn't have done anything at all because at the beginning he seemed like a very satisfied man. When he heard that he was Thane of Cawdor, he was overjoyed. If the witches hadn't taken it one step further, then he wouldnt have worked to become king.

  138. I think that if the witches had not told Macbeth that he was to become king, he wouldn't have acted how he did. He forced the prophecy into happening and it doesn't work that way. If the thought would have never crossed his mind, he probably would've stayed content with where he was on the social ladder. The witches are ultimately responsible for his downfall, they gave him his ambitions. He would've killed anyway, not just because of Lady Macbeth.

  140. I believe that if he hadn't been told the prophecy he still would have become king. Macbeth just wouldn't have killed all the people ahead of him. He seemed to have been happy about just being Thane of Cawdor that becomeing king wouldn't have even crossed his mind.

  141. I think it would have been Lady Macbeth's fault for Macbeth's downfall because MAcbeth may not have been influenced enough to kill the king if she hadnt gotten inside of his head.

  142. Ethan P: Well, I think the downfall falls to the witches. I think the witches looked at Macbeth as someone who they hated, or maybe revered. So they tell him he will be king and they vanish. Whatever their intent to cause his downfall or his glory, they started a chain of events that eventually ended in Duncan dead, Macbeth and several others murdered. Thus they lighted the match that burned down the building...

  143. i agree with whatt kyle and zach and ben said that the witches are really powerful and manipulative, but really it all came down to macbeth makeing his own decisions. yah lady macbeth and the witches were manipulative, but you have control over what you do and who you affect when it all comes down to it.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Macbeths downfall was mainly because of himself and the witches contributed. He should have control over himself so his doesn't bring himslef to doing something so brutal, while the witches got the idea in Macbeths head. Had they not have said anything, Macbeth wouldn't have done any of the killing

  145. I think that it was Macbeth himself. I do not think that anyone can tell you to kill someone a couple times and make you do it. Macbeth decided on his own in the end, to kill the king. If the prophesy was not told to him though he would not have been thinking of killing the king.

  155. Trust Between Characters:
In my opinion, I think that in Macbeth trust causes more conflict than benefits. Such as how Macbeth trusted in Lady Macbeth and their trust turned into a conflict; the conflict of Macbeth murderering many characters and this led to his own downfall.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Lord of the Flies and Macbeth Comparison:
The comparisons between Macbeth and Lord of the Flies is that the main characters in each story share the lust for power. As a result of this lust for power, the characters (Ralph, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth) go crazy. There is also a lack of leadership in both plots, this results in even more destruction of the characters mentallity and thier lifestyle.

  157. Symbols:
I agree with Derek on the symbol of the horses eating each other. I also believe that the symbols, for the most part, were involved with nature for a reason. I believe this reason is because one cannot change nature by force. When Macbeth interfered with the prophecy, nature reacted in an un-natural way.
