Record your reactions to two (2) Play portfolio activities you completed this week.

  1. For one of the play activities I tried the Humor Scale. I scored where I thought I would. I was in the middle for "performance" but high in the other humor categories. So basically I'm sometimes funny but I appreciate humor and use it a lot in my life. I also tried "Get Your Game On" with my brothers' help. I never knew how many random video games were in my house. I knew Halo, Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, MarioKart, the basics. What I didn't know was we also had stuff like Oblivion, Dead Space, or Left 4 Dead 2 and that shockingly, they were actually mildly entertaining and quite humorous. The games surprised me because I didn't expect to like those kind of games and they got me more interested in what other kind of games are out there.

  2. For my portfolio activities I did Step on the Humor Scale and Play at Inventing. For the humor scale I scored only five points away from the highest score. I consider myself funny so this fit me. For Play at Inventing I went to the website and played some of the games. They were fun and they required strategy.

  3. I completed the Step on the Humor Scale and the Get Your Game On. For the Step on the Humor Scale I got a 58 out of 64 meaning I am improving my quality of life. If someone answered the questions about me though... I am not sure what score I would get. In certain situations I find myself extremely hilarious, even without saying anything but I am not sure what other people think. For the Get Your Game On I played on my Wii. I pretty much suck at the adventure games but I think my car racing/ motorcyle racing skills are pretty awesome!

  4. I tried the activity in the portfolio called "Step On the Humor Scale," and I scored fifty-eight out of a possible sixty-four. This means that I have a good outlook on life and I am apparently happy. I Would definateley agree with the statement as I do laugh a lot, I like to have a good time and i am usually pretty happy. The second activity I did from the Play Portfolio was "Go Back to School" even though I am still in school. For this I was supposed to go to a playground and watch the kids play. It reminded me of all the fun we used to have on the play ground when nothing mattered. We would sit there and play on the old wooden see-saw and it just made we remember and want to go play like we used to. I remembered all the times we would laugh playing on the swings, always jumping off trying to get the farthest. It brought back a more carefree part of me! The two activities just reminded me that I like to have fun.

  5. For one of the portfolio activities I did was the humor scale. As I anticipated I scored high. I mean to sound cocky though. This also reflects how I am a happy person I would agree with this statement even though I can get into negative moods. The next activity I did was go back to school I went to the near by elementary school, my old school Mark Twain, and I saw how on the playground many things had changed however it was still full of children playing, laughing and just running around.

  6. For the Play activities i decided to do Step on the Humor Scale and Get Your Game On. For the Step on the Humor Scale activity I scored a 58 out of a total of 64. To me this proves that I'm a happy person that is pretty funny. For the Get Your Game On activity, I played my Xbox 360. Im not so great at the shoot em' up game like Call of Duty and Halo because the people popping up tends to scare me, thus being a detriment to my skill. On the other hand I seem to be very good at that car racing games.

  7. For my play portfolio activities, I dissected a joke and got my game on. The joke i dissected was the following: What do a banana and a bicycle have in common? Answer: They both have handle bars... except for the banana. I decided this is funny because of the absolute simpleness of it. I laugh really hard whenever I hear that joke because it is so stupid, but that is what makes if funny! I played MLB 2K7 in order to get my game on. I love playing video games because I have absolute control. I think that is a big part of what play is. You can do what you want, however you want it. Play is great!

  8. One activity I did was step on the humor scale. I got a 54 out of 64. The other activity I did was disect a joke. The joke I chose was, "A guy walks into a bar, what does he say? He says ouch!" This joke is funny (or at least it's funny to me) because it catches you off guard. You were expecting it to be something like hey gimme a beer. But it isn't. I am talking about a physical bar.

  9. For my play portfolio, I did 'play at inventing' and 'go back to school.' Although I didn't actually go back to school, I visited a nearby park and sat I the swings, I never really noticed how much I actually miss recess. I also thought that play at inventing was kind of cool, I really liked the create a cloud activity because it pulled out your creative side.

  10. For my play portfolio, I did the Humor Scale and the Go Back to School. I scored reletively high on the humor scale, which, though I am not really a funny person, I do laugh alot and get other's jokes, so I think the score was reletively accurate. For the go back to school portfolio, I just sat down and watched my yearbook class. In yearbook, we still do alot of the things we did as younger kids. We talk and joke around...alot. we play games as a class quite often, such as martinis, chubby bunny, guess the song, and men and Down By the Banks, the later i remeber playing in elementry. Each birthday there are treats such as cupcake cones and we all sing the Red Robin Happy Birthday. We still have chair races and fly paper airplanes. We constantly have disney songs playing, people just randomly start singing them, especially lion king songs and mulan's 'i'll make a man out of you.' Yearbook is probably the most stressful class i'll ever take, but with all the play in the class, it takes a load off day to day life and its hard not to smile in that class. It's good to have a class like that, a class that's alot of play. It's like the day we had in class today, only every day.

  11. For my portfolio I did the humor scale and get your game on. On the humor scale, I did pretty bad. Most of the questions that delt with what people thought of me were always a one because people really don't see my style of humor and they probably think I'm strange. Also, people tend to stay away from me for some reason so how am I suppose to know what they think of me!?! On the get your game on, I actually found it fun (for once) to be able to play some of my favorite games during the week. Actually it helped me unwind and relax ( until I died and had to restart seven times).

  12. For my play portfolio I decided to complete "Step on the Humor Scale" and "Play at Inventing". For the first sctivity, I took a test in which I discovered the condition of my humor. I was pretty average for every score except on creativity and performance. This means I don't always like to be the life of the party. For the second activity, I went ot the website and played different thinking games. I like this site because it brought the creative child in me, instead of the sinical teen. I like taking a break from homework and playing some thinking games. These games use both work and play together.

  13. For my portfolio activities I did Step on the Humor Scale and Play at Inventing. For Step on the Humor scale i got a five. This is mainly because I think I'm pretty funny. For Play at Inventing I went on the site and played all the different games. It was really fun and at the same time challenging to win at the game.

  14. For my portfolio activities I chose to do "Step on the Humor Scale" and "Get Your Game On" On the humor test I recieved a score of 52 which I thought was accurate. This is because I laugh quite a bit but I am not an extreme laugher. Then for my "Get Your Game On" activity I did as it said, and, played some games. I found this very stress relieving because the game absorbs you into it to where you forget all about the issues of life. I forsee this activity becoming very important especially with finals coming up; however, you do have to leave the game at sometime and study. So it is a good stress reliever but also is almost addictive because you don't want to return to your life and leave the game.

  15. For my play activities, I chose to try the humor scale, and return to school. On the humor scale, I scored a 60 out of 64, meaning that I am happy and apparently pretty funny. I agreed with this because I normally am in a good mood, and make people laugh frequently.
I enjoy watching people smile, and love to laugh myself. I also chose to go back to school. Instead of going back to a real school, I went to the local park and watched kids at soccer practice play on the swing set and jungle gym after they were done. I found this to be very interesting to see how much fun these kids could have by just running and jumping. This activity also encouraged me to be open to being a little immature sometimes.

  18. For my "Play" activities I did Get Your Game and Go back to school. I played the game Lemonade Stand online because that's a game I used to play when I was in 4th grade. It reminded me of how much fun you can have. I also did go back to school. In a crowded restaurant I watched a group of little kids eat dinner. They were so cute. They were dancing to the music playing, laughing, and screaming without a care in the world. It made me smile remembering the days when I was younger. My brother anI even came home and had a great laugh together afterwards. I was reminded of how fun it is just to let go of all the stress for awhile and just play.

  19. For one of my play activities I did get your game on. I enjoyed it a lot because I really enjoy playing video games. I played dolphin olympics where the objective is to jump as possible. I jumped to Mars!!! This is nothing compared to Ben Eigner's jump to neptune, but I still had a lot of fun.
The other play activity I chose to do was go back to school. I watched smaller, younger kids play on the playground to see if it would increase my sense of play. This activity worked very well. After watching all these kids laughing and having so much with something so simple as monkey bars, I wanted run around and play. As Daniel Pink said, their sense of curiosity and wonder penetrated my older immune system.

  20. The first activity I chose to do was play a video game. It was a very humbling experience, even though I do it quite often. Afterwards, I started my homework and it became so much easier for me. I started to think way more strategically and I would not quit a question until I found an answer. The second activity, I chose to Step on the Humor Scale. It said that if I'm near it, I let your sense of humor serve me, improving my quality of life. I strongly agree with this. I find humor a great essential in living a peaceful life. It livens things up, calms things down, and just makes things way more interesting.

  22. The first activity I did was get your game on. I play videogames every day, I own a play station 3 and 2, a tricked out pc, a psp, a game boy advance a ds, I have the internet, my phone, and even a super Nintendo to play videogames on. This time I decided to go old school and play the legend of Zelda for SNES which is always fun.

The other activity I did was the go back to school activity. This one to, is easy because all you have to do is stand in the hall or lunchroom and see how people play. Mostly it’s social and not actually playing, but still talking is play in my view. You’re enjoying it and having fun.

  23. For the play activities I chose to do 'Get your game on' and the 'Step on the humor scale'. For the first activity, get your game on, I played my very old Nintendo 64 that had been gathering massive amounts of dust in my closet. I figured it was time to break it out, and I was surprised to find out that it was just as fun as today's modern gaming systems like the PS3 or the Xbox 360.

For the second activity, the step on the humor scale, I scored a 60 out of 64. I think this means I have a comical look on a lot of things and usually take things lightly.

  24. I did the go back to school activity, and observed kids after one of our band concerts. I love band, but those can be some of the most dull concerts if you don't enjoy the perticular song. After the concert, everybody was goofing off. Some kids were dancing around to music, and others were making plans for ice cream afterwards. All in all it was a way for them to escape the few hours spent sitting listening to music, and just have fun with some friends. I also chose get Your Game On, and played a Circus game on wii with my younger sister, Reagan. It was fun, but not so much because of the game, but more because I do not spend much time with Reagan [Mostly because she is only 8] and it was nice to connect with her for a bit.
